UNIVERSITY OF CáDIZ

The 'University of Cádiz' '''(Universidad de Cádiz)''', founded in 1979, is noted for its medicine and marine sciences curricula. It is situated in the city of Cádiz on the southwest coast of Spain. During the 2005/2006 academic year, there were 18,199 students, 1563 lecturers, and 680 administration and services workers associated with the university.
Its Faculty of Medicine traces its founding to that of the Royal Naval College of Surgery in 1748, which was the first in Europe to combine medicine and surgery in a single school.
Its Marine Science departments constitute the 'CASEM' ''(Centro Andaluz Superior de Estudios Marinos)'', which offers studies in Marine Environment and Marine Resources, Seafaring, Marine Engineering, Naval Radioelectronics and Naval Engineering.
