Three United States Navy ships have been named 'USS ''Quincy''', after the town of Quincy, Massachusetts.
★ The first ''Quincy'' (AK-10) was a German cargo ship seized in 1917 and used until 1922, then sold.
★ The second ''Quincy'' (CA-39) was a heavy cruiser sunk during World War II, at the Battle of Savo Island in August 1942.
★ The third ''Quincy'' (CA-71) was also a heavy cruiser, named to commemorate her predecessor and commissioned 1943, serving through the rest of WWII and in the Korean War, and decommissioned in 1954.
