What the heck's a widget?

Widgets, or more specifically, Dashboard Widgets, are mini-applications that run on your Mac. They are single-purpose little guys that do one thing really well, whatever that thing is.

The TripAtlas.com widget just displays the headlines and a short blurb from each and every article on the site, with the newest articles on top. That's it and that's all.

What's so great about widgets?

What if I don't have a Mac?
