History

The street was paved in the late-19th century along with neo-classical buildings were added. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the road was finally paved in the 1950s and several buildings were rebuilt. Traffic lights were installed in the 1960s and the 1970s. The central and the southern parts of the street became a walkway. Traffic increased and later declined in the 1990s as the GR-8 and the GR-5 and the GR-48 was redirected to Iroon Polytechneiou until late-2002 which became presently redirected to the Patras Bypass.
