The 'Treaty of Rastatt' of
March 7,
1714, was essentially part of the
Treaty of Utrecht. In 1713 and 1714, this
treaty was negotiated by
Marshal of France,
Claude Louis Hector de Villars and the
Austrian prince,
Prince Eugene of Savoy. Along with the Treaty of Utrecht, it resolved the
War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714). This treaty, in particular, ended hostilities between King
Louis XIV and
Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI, which had continued after the rest of the war was resolved.
