(Redirected from Thinis, Egypt)

'Girga' (Arabic: جرجا) is a city in the Upper Egyptian Sohag Governorate. It is located on the west bank of the Nile River. The Egyptian name of the city was 'Tjeny', while its Greek name was 'Thinis'.
According to Manetho's chronological list, Thinis was the ancient Egyptian capital city of the Thinnite Confederacy, and later the home of the First and Second Dynastic kings, though no proof of this has been found.
