The 'Swedish Gold Coast' was a
Swedish colony consisting of settlements of part of the
West African Gold Coast (in present-day
Ghana, on the
Gulf of Guinea).
History
From 22 April
1650 the Swedish Gold Coast was built up, consisting of the following settlements:

Fort Carlsborg, modern
Cape Coast Castle: April 1650 - January/February 1658, 10 December 1660- 22 April 1663

Apollonia, present
Benyin: 1655-1657.

Fort Chistiansborg/
Fort Frederiksborg, which became the capital, present
Osu: 1652-1658
★
Fort Batenstein, present
Butri: 1650-1656.

Fort Witsen, present
Takoradi: 1653-1658.
On 20 April
1663 Fort Carlsborg and the capital Fort Christiansborg were seized by
Denmark, which made it part of its
Danish Gold Coast colony.
