![]() | Sea Shepherd - Susan Sarandon "Save the Dolphins" A public service announcement from film star Susan Sarandon in a plea to stop the dolphin slaughter in Japan and also world wide. Includes information on how you can help stop this cruel, barbaric practise. How They Kill The fishermen in villages like Taiji, go out in small boats to known dolphin migratory routes. Positioning their boats strategically, they space out to form a line and wait for the dolphins. When the dolphins arrive, the fishermen drop long metal pipes into the water, and by banging on the pipes they create a wall of sound. The sound interferes with the dolphins' ability to navigate - it disorients and panics them. The dolphins swim away from the sound, and the fisherman maneuver their boats herding them into a small shallow bay. Once in the bay, nets are drawn across the mouth of the bay to keep them penned in. The fishermen usually injure a few of the captive dolphins with a spear thrust or a knife slash - dolphins will not abandon these wounded family members. Trapped in the shallow water, the dolphins mill about trying to stay as far from land as possible until the next morning. In the morning, the fishermen draw the nets in, forcing the dolphins closer to shore where they kill them by stabbing and slashing them with knives and hooks. The dolphins thrash about for as long as six minutes each as they slowly bleed to death, turning the sea literally red with their blood. After the massacre, the bodies of the dolphins are taken to a slaughter house to be butchered. The meat is severely contaminated but is sold without warnings in supermarkets in Japan - supermarkets often owned by US and European chains. Japan Illegally Kills Small Whales Japan is a member of the International Whaling Commission (IWC). In 1986, the IWC's moratorium on the killing of whales went into effect. Under the terms of the IWC, Japan is permitted to kill a limited number of whales under the "scientific research" exception. This "scientific research" exception is, in reality, simply a loophole which Japan exploits in order to kill whales for commercial consumption, but Japan is not permitted to kill any other whales protected by the IWC. Observers have seen the fishermen at Taiji slaughtering entire pods of small pilot whales. That is a wholesale violation of the provisions of the International Whaling Commission and is plainly illegal. It is simply ignored by the Japanese government. ![]() | Handmade Portraits: MV Knits After quitting her day job in Los Angeles and moving to Martha's Vineyard, a quiet island off the Massachusetts coast, Susan Gibbs aka MVKnits had a great idea. She started Martha's Vineyard Fiber Farm and figured out how to make a living making yarn. Why not use the local food movement's model of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and apply it to a yarn harvest? Shareholders pay for a share in the yarn harvest as a way to support a local farm (or in this case, a local farm supported through the internet) and in return they get weekly updates, photos from the farm, an invitation to the shearing and ultimately a share of the yarn. Etsian Tara Young aka weirdwolf headed to Martha's Vineyard to visit Susan Gibbs and her fiber farm. Music by Barry London and Charlie Parr. |

![]() | Gussy's Crate Games Part 2 More footage of gussy & I practicing crate games. So far (in 5 days) we've increased distractions a LOT (my clicker-cat Rusty enjoys helping us with that...) and started working in the car (with the car as the crate). Let me just say that Susan Garrett's crate games DVD is awesome. Buy it, borrow it, do whatever you can to see it! Even if you are pet dog owner and not sport dog person, it will help you a lot (and I can say that because Gussy is purely a PET.) http://yellowbrickdogs.com/ |
![]() | Gussy & Crate Games My 10 year old GSD, Gussy, playing Susan Garrett's Crate Games. This was our 2nd session. Gus hasn't been in a crate in over 2 years, and when she was there was not really any training involved (lazy trainer!). Oh and pardon my midriff--this was very early in the morning & I wasn't thinking straight. visit: http://yellowbrickdogs.com/ |

![]() | Dead Rising Perfect Run 9-1: The Last Picture Show 9-1: A note, before we get started: just about every frequently asked question I've gotten from these videos is already explained somewhere on Youtube. Adam-related questions, such as the small chainsaws and the secret passage, are covered in 2-1 and 2-2; I'm going for Ending A, as stated in 1-1; no, the chainsaws aren't infinite/unbreakable; the books you need for 2700% are covered in 2-1 and 2-2; my method of recording these videos is in my profile. Reading is fundamental! I pause to shepherd Alyssa, Susan, and Leroy into the ductwork before hauling it downstairs to meet Kent. I make it a little faster than I'd thought I would, so I make a couple of Untouchables that I don't wind up needing. If you walk into Paradise Plaza after noon on Day Three after winning both of Kent's Photo Challenges, Kent will be waiting for you and will put you through one of the most annoying boss fights in the game. If you're there when noon hits, though, you'll fight Kent on more even terms and have the chance to rescue Tad, the second-to-last survivor. Kent is surprisingly dangerous, and apparently is working with Otis and Kindall to form the biggest possible pain in my ass. I'm trying to get an opening in which to answer the damn transceiver, but once I decide I don't care anymore, Kent is history. It should also be noted that getting Alyssa, Susan, and Leroy into the ductwork was enough to earn me Saint. However, I will not get Saint on an Ending A run until the end of Overtime Mode, as both Frank and Isabela count against the final total, and as I will automatically lose two survivors if I trigger the events that lead up to Ending A. If I'm willing to settle for Ending B, I can get Saint at the end of 72 Hour Mode with a maximum of fifty-three survivors. |
