This clan is more associated with Rama, the King of Ayodhya who was rightful heir according to rule of primogeniture but disqualified for his fathers promises made to second queen Kaikeyi. All of the Kings in this clan have started from the originiation of the world and the first person of the clan was Vivaswan or Vivaswat. The name Vivaswan literally means master of the rays. That is The Sun or Sun God. His son was called Vaivaswat Manu. First important king of this dynasty was Ikshvaku. Therefore, this dynasty is also known as the Ikshvaku dynasty.
