Wolf and Shan
St. James Park patrons Wolf and Shan read from RFK's 1966 Cape Town University speech. This is documentation from the 3rd of 4 Saturday events at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Forum in St. James Park, San Jose, CA - which commemorates him speaking there 2 months before his assassination. As part of the temporary public art project, "RFK Remix" - http://www.rfkremix.info, individuals are invited to recite RFK speeches in front of a tapestry sewn from recycled clothing. The tapestry acts as a temporary renovation and a visual cue to signal activity taking place at the monument during the Saturday events in the park (May 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st — 11am - 1pm) and relates to the story of a woman who used to give away free clothing in the park. "RFK Remix" is a project produced by artist Helena Keeffe and is one of several temporary public art projects presented by the San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs http://www.w1w2.org sponsored by City of San José Public Art Program, the Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency.
POD The city of Cape Town
Cape Town, known as South Africa's Mother City, has been continuously inhabited for three and a half centuries. It is a relaxed city and the emphasis is very much on an outdoor lifestyle. Although an old city, Cape Town is world class and ultra modern. It is a shopper's paradise and visitors feel completely at home in malls like Canal Walk or the stylish Cavendish Square. And a shopping and eating experience all on it's own is Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The City is surrounded by beaches - all the way from Clifton and Camps Bay on the Atlantic side to Muizenberg, St. James and Fish Hoek along the False Bay Coast. And there is no better view of the city than from the top of Table Mountain, a quick and easy cable car ride away. Cape Town boasts a bustling nightlife - some of the popular spots are Long Street, Green Point, Sea Point and the ever-popular Waterkant Village. All offering bars, clubs, night spot and of course a wide selection of top class restaurants. Cape Town is rich in history and culture and just a short drive out of the city are the Cape Winelands - where you can visit world famous and award winning vineyards. Cape Town is the kind of City where no matter how long you plan to stay and how much you get to do, you will always have a reason to come back for more.
