A bit tousled from a storm last winter this area has a natural beauty and a peaceful almost spiritual ambience. After a brisk walk or jog, one would find it hard to believe that they were not in New England or the like. Exact due south is where the lower pond empties into the bay under a tiny footbridge and where a mini lighthouse stands guard nearby. |

![]() | GUCE PTBTV Interview Pt. 4 (NEW YORK & ATLANTA "FRUIT-CAKE" DISS? Spice-1 SHOUT-OUT) PART 4 of 4. PTBTV aka Pushin' The Bay EXCLUSIVE! In this exclusive / raw video, Ray Luv speaks with and Emcee T films GUCE of Bullys Wit Fullys. Uncut and never before heard of subjects, Ray Luv and PTBTV gets to the bottom of it all - GUCE speaks his mind about New York & the ATL regarding the misconception that SF is 'fruity'. GUCE also talks about why Frisco rappers don't live in San Francisco, bumping into enemies, shouting out hoods from all over California, artists that come to the Bay acting "big", survival in the music game, respecting the game and artists that have "been through it." Emcee T also asks GUCE why the media shows the Bay as "jolly" rappers... Real recognize real! A rare, never before seen exclusive video brought to you by PUSHIN' THE BAY TV. Messy Marv, along with Guce and Killa Tay makes up the group Bullys wit Fullys, which is the recipient of the 2006 B.A.R.S. Awards for best collaboration. In addition to his collaborative efforts with Guce, Messy Marv has released several albums with his cousin and fellow prominent Bay Area rapper San Quinn. He has received considerable attention for his hit song "Get On My Hype", and the Bullys Wit Fullys music video, "So Hood" was in heavy rotation on MTV Jams. The Infrastructure is the third group album by Bullys Wit Fullys released in 2006. Messy Marv and Guce make up this year's installment of the group, with the first two albums by Killa Tay and Guce. The album features production from prominent Bay Area producers E-A-Ski and Sean T, as well as Toure, and Toy Shop. Features include Clyde Carson, Mistah F.A.B., Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, Killa Keise, and other Bay Area artists. The street anthem "So Hood" produced by E-A-Ski and featuring Clyde Carson was the first single released for the album, in which a video was also shot for. Hyphy music is distinguished by gritty, pounding rhythms and in this sense can be associated with the Bay Area as crunk music is to the South; however, contrary to popular belief, the musical aspect of the Hyphy movement has very few similarities to crunk music as it is dictated by more up-tempo beats. An individual is said to "get hyphy" when they act or dance in an overstated, fast paced, and ridiculous manner. Those who consider themselves part of the Hyphy movement would describe this behavior as "getting stupid" or "going dumb." In contrast to much of popular American culture where these phrases would be considered negative or even insulting, Hyphy is distinguished by taking this kind of behavior as a form of pride. ![]() | Venetian Shores in Storm, March 8th 2008 The coastal storm on March 8th, 2008 dropped a total of 2.75 inches of rain and had wind gusts up to 42 mph here at Venetian Shores. The waves at the ocean beaches were around 8 feet, the waves in the Great South Bay were about 3-4 feet, and the waves in the canals were about 1 foot. Storm surge was only around +.75 feet on the south shore back bays, so coastal flooding was not a problem. Only stream, creak, and poor drainage freshwater flooding occured. This storm is the same strom that gave Ohio and western New York State a blizzard, with up to 30 inches of snow reported in Ohio. |

![]() | Now THAT'S a Macy's! (New York-style, Dallas Galleria) RATING: G, for families. No need to flag. A complete video, inside and out, of the REAL, New York-style Macy's store at the Galleria in Dallas, Texas. Since gluse was fortunate enough to make videos at this excellent Macy's location, I thought I'd make a video of the whole store! (Yes, I'm going to show you the escalators.) Macy's, of course, is a famous department store from New York City. Many people know Macy's from the Thanksgiving Parade and the film "Miracle on 34th Street". Although Macy's had stores outside the New York area in the past, preferably in the Bay Area and Atlanta, Macy's first store outside their usual areas opened in 1983 in Aventura, FL. Soon thereafter, a couple stores opened in the Houston suburbs in 1984-85 (there's a video of a Dillard's at Deerbrook Mall that used to be an old Macy's), and this store, at the Galleria in Dallas, opened on October 8, 1985. Even though this location operated as a Macy's over the past 22 years, this store has gone through regional changes: - 1985-1988: Operated under Macy's New York, THE main division of Macy's. - 1988-1992: Operated under an early version of Macy's South, based in Atlanta, GA. - 1992-2006: Operated as Macy's West, based out of San Francisco, CA. - 2006-2008: Operated as the new version of Macy's South, based in Atlanta, GA. - 2008-present: Operated as a part of Macy's Central, also based out of Atlanta, GA. This store opened on October 8, 1985, particularly to compete with other top-dollar stores such as Neiman-Marcus. This store, as expected, was designed to be a small-scale version of the original New York Herald Square location and specializes heavily on high fashions and fancy housewares. A restaurant, food department, customer service, gift wrap, and store offices are all to be found in this store. The exterior was Macy's typical design in the Mid 80s to Early 90s. (In 1993, Sonny Bryan's Barbeque, a Dallas-based fast food chain, became the restaurant on the third floor [ala Nordstrom's restaurants in their stores]. I feel that's good, customizing a New York-like store to fit in here in Dallas.) In this video, I show you the basement and sub-basement of this store, which is basically parking. The escalators in this part of the garage are SITO (Otis in the weird blocky font of the 60s-80s) single-file escalators which are customized for Macy's. I then show level 1, which consists of menswear, plus women's shoes, accessories, handbags, sunglasses, jewelry, fragrances, and cosmetics. Outside in the mall area is a sushi restaurant operated by the store itself. I like the gold-plating in the mall area. Level 2 consists entirely of women's wear. (Apologies for the lack of detail in women's departments; I don't want to be embarrassed wandering around in the wrong departments!) Finally, Level 3 has "The Cellar," which consists of gourmet foods, a restaurant (in this case, Sonny Bryan's), and appliances/cookware; plus miscellaneous gifts, home bedding and towels, china and crystal, baggage (sorry for a grammatical error spoken during that part), and the still largely-untouched children's section. There's also a customer service/gift wrap office, and the actual employee offices for the store; I love these offices, because they look like an old bank! To top it all off, even though gluse made a video of it already, I ride the Otis parking garage elevator from the sub-basement to the roof in 20 seconds! (At the end, I say, "Made it!" really fast!) I forgot to mention, the escalators in the store are like the garage escalators, only regular-sized. These are SITOs (Otis in the weird font). I made this video not only because this is the very first Macy's I've ever been into, but this is the ONLY Macy's worth shopping at here in the Metroplex! I like how I feel like I'm in New York City shopping at this location, and old Foley's stores can't even come close!!!!! This video is also to give those in markets whose first Macy's stores are old neighborhood stores or used to live near or have a "Real Macy's" an in-depth look at what a Macy's really looks like! The music played in this video is by Duran Duran. Since I love 80s things (especially music!) and that this store comes from the 80s, both would be an excellent mix! The video (including its soundtrack) is entirely for educational, historical, and informational purposes only. All copyrights respected. |
![]() | Sandy Hook New Jersey 12.2007 - Video & Still Pix I've taken of Sandy Hook which is a barrier peninsula, approximately 7 miles in length and 1 mile wide, in Middletown Township in Monmouth County, along the Atlantic Ocean coast of eastern New Jersey in the United States. The barrier spit encloses the southern entrance of Lower New York Bay south of New York City. Throughout history, it has formed a convenient anchorage for ships before proceeding into Upper New York Harbor. The now-defunct Fort Hancock is located at the north end of the peninsula. It is now open to the public. The Sandy Hook Proving Ground was a proving ground used by the United States Army for many years (post-Civil War to 1919, when the facility was moved to Aberdeen, Maryland) and was later the site of a Nike missile defense installation. The Sandy Hook Nike station is one of very few stations that are still intact. Almost all of the fort's gun batteries are off limits to the public due to their hazardous condition. |
