Bastards Trained by Bastards - Single Issue Politics
Bastards Trained by Bastards at Harry's Bar in Stoke on Trent.
Responding To The Crazy Right
Chris, I fear for my country. I think what we just heard is a congresswoman channeling Joe McCarthy, channeling a politics of fear and loathing and demonization and division and distraction. Not a single issue mentioned. This is a politics at a moment of extreme economic pain in this country that is incendiary, that is so debased, that I'm almost having a hard time breathing, because I think it's very scary. Because this is a country I love, and this woman had no sense of the history of this nation, which is one of struggle, of trying to fulfill the great ideals of this nation, of movements that have brought about the civilizing advances of this country, and she doesn't even know who Saul Alinsky is -- a community organizer who channeled the views of the people from below. I think Barack Obama is going to win, and he's going to have a lot of work because there is an extremism unleashed in this nation which you just heard on this program, which could lead to violence, and hatred, and toxicity. And against the backdrop of the Great Depression we're living through, it could lead -- and I don't use this word lightly -- to a kind of American fascism, which is against the great values of this nation, and which people like that are fomenting.

For Our People - Show 12 - Council of Conservative Citizens
For Our People. A weekly show by Council of Conservative Citizens - Paul Fromm. This weeks show is: History of the Council of Conservative Citizens A detailed history of American's leading populist organization -- The Council for Conservative Citizens. (http://www.cofcc.org) ---------- Who are the Council of Conservative Citizens! The Council of Conservative Citizens, the no longer silent majority, — is a genuinely active national organization — effectively organizing and winning! The C of CC was organized by conservative leaders from throughout the nation, who met in Atlanta, Georgia to build an updated organization in which the "silent majority" could participate at the local, state, and national levels. We're organizing conservative activists, developing unity, and successfully building a network of chapters and supporters at the grass-roots level nationwide to serve as a responsible, effective voice and active advocate for the no-longer silent conservative majority. This is a unification movement that is desperately needed and long overdue. Individualistic-minded conservatives have failed to properly organize while the Left (being more collectivist-minded) has developed organization into an "art form." Most politicians will cater to those blocs that they perceive as being able to help (or hurt) them the most at the ballot box. However, a purely national group has little local influence — and "all politics is local." On the other hand, purely local groups with no national or regional structural coordination fractionate our efforts and dissipate our resources. Single issue groups, while performing an important role, are too narrowly focused. We know that conservatives can rebuild their political power only by beginning at the "grass roots," unifying our efforts and focusing our resources. Our local groups work at the local level on local issues, and cooperate nationally to bring their power to bear on the important national issues. Others put their faith in Washington lobbyists to accomplish the difficult job of getting the conservative viewpoint before Congress. We rely on the people back home. Others put their faith in political parties to get the conservative message to federal, state, and local officials. We rely on the members of our local chapters to tell officials directly what conservatives want, if necessary at the ballot box, and encouraging sound conservatives to run for office, and volunteers and workers to support the candidates. And it's working! We're winning the attention of politicians and the confidence of voters. After only a short time, the CofCC has had a major effect simply because we recognize that a victory achieved or election won at the local level is far more important than any number of prestigious contests or races lost. We have winning experience. The Council of Conservative Citizens is unique in another way — it was founded and is staffed by men and women whose political experience comes from every responsible social movement, conservative organization, and effective political party in America. Our founders, officers, and members include conservative academics, expert political organizers, union officers, farmers, businessmen, professionals, and elected officials. Together, we represent the total experience of the conservative movement in America. We know who we are through our affiliation with the new Conservative Citizens Foundation. The Foundation (which does not advocate or oppose legislation or candidates) conducts in depth surveys and studies of the views, attitudes, and priorities both of conservatives and of the public at large - something no other conservative group is doing. Using information supplied by the non-partisan CCF, the Council educates Americans on and organizes them around the issues they themselves feel to be important, issues that are critical for America. To win we must build locally, and unify and focus our resources and efforts.
One-Issue voting?
Is there a particularly important issue that defines your vote? --- Interesting piece in Newsweek--"Pro-Life Catholics for Obama" http://www.newsweek.com/id/163896?GT1=43002
Capt USA Presidential Candidate
Capt USA offers strong leadership and radical change. As a single issue candidate NO MORE OIL is a 4 year reality with WWII style infrastructure conversion. Electric cars trucks buses trains suburbs towns and cities all powered by nuclear reactors, solar panels, and wind turbines. We already have the technology. We just need a strong President who is not a politician, who is not a part of Washington INC. Someone willing to stand up to the Multi National Corporations that own DC and the world and make the hard changes necessary to save the planet. If the 21st century continues to be fueled by oil there will come a day that our children will face when there is not enough for Russia China and the US. Shame on us if we force our children to untangle that mess.
Scottish march in Edinburgh 25/11/2006
NOTE: Apparently this was not a march for independance, but for St Andrews day. I wasn't aware of what it was and assumed from some of the banners that it was for independance. _______ I was on Princes Street in Edinburgh the other day, and happened to catch a march that was going on, I thought it was a march for Independence 1st. Independence 1st are a single issue campaign group that are calling for a referendum on Scottish independence from the UK. They are not linked to any political party, and are there to unite the supporters on this single issue. Recent polls have indicated growing support for Scottish independence from the UK, and many people think that this May we will see the pro-independence SNP take power in the Scottish parliament. The UK (Labour) government are staring to get really worked up about it, saying everything and nothing to try and convince voters against the idea. Sorry about the quality, my (crappy) phone camera was all I had at the time.
Single Issue Voter
The most important issue in politics in 2008 isn't gun control, the iraq war, health care, taxes or even immigration.
