SINGAPORE SPORTS HUB

The 'Singapore Sports Hub' (; Malay: ''Kompleks Sukan Singapura'') is a proposed sports complex located in Kallang, Singapore to be built on the present site of the National Stadium, which was officially closed on 30 June 2007. The new Sports Hub is expected to be ready by 2011.
The 35-hectare facility will comprise a new 55,000-capacity National Stadium with a retractable roof, a 6,000-capacity indoor aquatic centre, a 400-metre warm-up athletic track and a 3,000-seater multi-purpose arena.[1] 36,000 square metres of space have also been reserved for commercial development.
The nearby Singapore Indoor Stadium will be retained and refurbished as part of this development. There are also plans for a public water sports centre in the Kallang Basin and the Greater Marina Bay areas.
Demolition works of the existing National Stadium are expected to begin in the second half of 2007, and the new Sports Hub planned for completion in 2011.[2] Three finalist consortiums have submitted their plans, which are currently being evaluated.[3]
