'Simulsat' is a quasi-
parabolic satellite earthstation
antenna that is capable of receiving satellite transmissions from 35 or more
C and
Ku band satellites simultaneously. A standard parabolic antenna is able to receive signals from a single satellite at a time.
Simulsat antennas are
parabolic in one
plane and
spherical in the other. Since it has multiple points of
reflection, one antenna is able to receive signals from more than one
satellite at a time. It uses an antenna/downconverter (
low-noise block converter) for each satellite. The LNB's are mounted in an arc in front of the dish.
They are manufactured and sold by the
ATCi corporation, for whom Simulsat is their primary product. Currently, three versions are manufactured, ''Simulsat 5'', ''Simulsat C/K
u'', and ''Simulsat 7''.
