'Bhairahawa' or '[Bhairawa]' has been renamed 'Siddhartanagar' when it was incorporated as a municipality (nagarpalika). Siddhartanagar is a city located in south-central
Nepal, 4km from the Indian border. It has approx. 65.000 inhabitants (2007) is one of the industrial and economic centres of Nepal. It is also called the gateway to
Lumbini, the birthplace of
Buddha. The city is served by
Bhairahawa Airport.
