Open University. An honorary fellow of the
North East Wales Institute.
Professional career
She has worked as a worked as a journalist, in the voluntary sector running the former Clwyd Community Care Federation and throughout Wales and England as a lay inspector of schools. She is a former member of North Wales Probation Board and a former Director of the
Wales European Centre in Brussels.
Political career
County and Community Councillor,
Wrexham for 16 years - Deputy leader and Mayor.
She was elected to the
National Assembly for Wales in 2003 as a Labour candidate to represent
Delyn and re-elected in 2007 with a majority of 511. She was Chair of the European and External Affairs Committee 2003-07 and sits on the Social Justice and Regeneration Committee which is particularly relevant to Delyn as it covers the Communities First agenda.
She is arguably the most ineffective member of the Assembly. Her appearances in the chamber are rare. During the last Assembly election campaign, the Western Mail newspaper claimed she had made "very little impact" during her four years as an Assembly Member.
Her much reduced majority in 2007 was most likely due to her perceived ineffectiveness.
