SAINTE-SOULLE


'Sainte-Soulle' is a commune in the canton of La Jarrie of the Charente-Maritime in the ''département'' in the Poitou-Charentes ''région'' in France. It is one of the few communes in France that the commune shares the population with the seat of the canton and it is La Jarrie

Geography


The geography of the commune is situated about 12 km east of La Rochelle and forms a part of the agglomeration of Communauté d'agglomération de La Rochelle.
It is accessed by the N11 and has an entrance by the Usseau roundabout. The Usseau roundabout is part of the route connecting Nantes (N137). The future superhighway, the A831) (Fontenay-le-ComteRochefort) which will pass near the commune.
By the village, the commune compromises these localities including Les Grandes-Rivières (French for the large rivers), Les Petites-Rivières (French for the small rivers), Saint-Coux, une partie de Fontpatour, le Treuil-Arnaudeau, Usseau, La Gabardelière, Chavagne and Le Raguenaud.
Formerly an agricultural commune, it became urbanized in the 1990s and its residents now employed in nearby La Rochelle.

The name of the commune comes from Saint Soline (see also the commune of Sainte-Soline in the Deux-Sèvres ''départment'').
