Saginaw River watershed
The 'Saginaw River' is a 22-mile-long (35 km)
river in the
U.S. state of
Michigan. It is formed by the confluence of the
Tittabawassee and
Shiawassee rivers southeast of
Saginaw. It flows Northward into the
Saginaw Bay of
Lake Huron just northeast of
Bay City.
The river is an important shipping route for
Mid-Michigan, passing through the large cities of Saginaw and Bay City.
The Saginaw River has been polluted with
dioxins mainly from industrial waste discharged into the
Tittabawassee River by
Dow Chemical Company
