RYAZAN OBLAST

'Ryazan Oblast' (, ''Ryazanskaya oblast'') is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It has an area of 39,600 km² and a population of 1,227,910 (as of the 2002 Census). Its administrative center is the city of Ryazan, which is the largest regional city with a population of 535,000.
