ROYAL STRAND THEATRE

:''Aldwych was also home to the later Strand Theatre''
2nd Anniversary Souvenir from ''A Chinese Honeymoon''
'The Royal Strand Theatre' was located in the Strand, London, England. It was built in 1832 and enlarged in 1836. In 1905 the theatre was demolished to enable Aldwych underground station to be built.
The theatre was built in 7 weeks, using an earlier building that had previously be used to house panoramas.
The theatre has a chequered history, and was condemned in 1882. This required the building to be rebuilt prior to being allowed to reopen.
The musical comedy A Chinese Honeymoon opened in October 1901 and ran at the theatre for a record breaking 1,075 performances.
