How finely is this illustrated in the Antigone! In the opening dialogue we see what is in conflict, civil legislation and human piety, the positive law of the state and the unwritten law of the heart; and never in a single scene or in a single incident does the action swerve from the course prescribed, till the type of the one in the person of Creon illustrates the danger of arrogantly exalting the law of man over the law of nature, and the type of the other in the person of Antigone, the heavy price which on earth at least must be paid for defying the law of man that a higher law may be obeyed.

(Twilight series) Edward & Bella - Killin' Me
My take on the Twilight teaser and a song I thought fit quite well with the video and movie, please enjoy. WARNING : I know there are many repeated pictures and videos but, hey I don't get alot of videos with them so just live with it please? :D (I had a 1 minute clip to work with and a 3 minute song...please don't flame me for it =P) WARNING AGAIN: Some of you may ask, why the heck won't I use other clips from other vids and movies of them? Well that's easy, they didn't have the identity of Bella and Edward back then, them referring to Robert and Kristen, so please bear in mind there aren't many of their clips! ALSO! George Will: Let Them Eat Cake: Krugman: It's Like Katrina
George Will shows off his compassionate conservatism with these remarks on This Week with George Stephanopoulos while talking about the mortgage meltdown: "The Republicans have now put themselves in a bind because people now say look if you have Wall Street socialism, whereby you save Bear Sterns, or at least save JP Morgan to buy Bear Sterns, and you are thereby socializing the losses and keeping the profits private, why not help everybody. Soon we'll hear from everyone in the country who has a student loan. This is,it's a burden, help me." Riech and Krugman let him have it, especially Krugman with his response: "When I listened to McCain give that speech I immediately thought of Herbert Hoover's Treasury Secretary. Liquidate farmers, liquidate workers, liquidate real estate, purge the rottenness from the system. You can't do this. This is a major financial crisis. You've got to do something and that does include helping homeowners who were sucked in. You know it would be a little different if Alan Greenspan hadn't said you should all take out adjustable rate mortgages. It would be a little different if the administration hadn't said housing prices are going up. If they hadn't said there is no bubble. So this is a situation where a lot of people have been hurt. It's a natural disaster in effect. It's like Katrina, and to say oh let people suffer is like saying let those people who made the mistake of staying in New Orleans suffer." I hear ya' Paul.
SAN DIEGO ZOO AND POLAR BEARS INTERNATIONAL
As the United States Fish & Wildlife Service considers the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species, members of the Polar Bears International advisory council meet in San Diego on Friday to discuss the future of this bear and the role of zoos as educators and conservation partners. The San Diego Zoo and Polar Bears International announced Thursday they are forming an alliance to establish a conservation program, "Arctic Ambassadors," that will involve zoos and researchers around the world. "As climate change impacts the extent of arctic ice, more research and education are needed to protect polar bear populations," said Ron Swaisgood, Ph.D., head of Applied Animal Ecology at the San Diego Zoo. "By partnering with Polar Bears International, the San Diego Zoo has a unique opportunity to assist in polar bear conservation by focusing research on those questions that are best addressed in zoos and will have useful application both here and in the wild. The polar bear has much to gain from this alliance." Polar Bears International has already funded three San Diego Zoo polar bear research projects. One ongoing program is studying the bear's hearing sensitivity to help determine the impact of human-generated noise, such as oil drilling, on this species. "Under the guidance of this program, zoos throughout the world will help educate and inspire millions of people by establishing Arctic Ambassador Centers," said Robert Buchanan, Polar Bears International president. "PBI and the San Diego Zoo will work together to build an extensive network of Arctic Ambassadors to become champions for this sentinel species by inspiring, informing, and empowering change." Arctic Ambassadors will include some of the world's top leaders in polar bear education, research, and husbandry issues. The San Diego Zoo will become an active participant in Polar Bears International's field research initiatives, including the Polar Population Project (Tri-P), which is designed to establish census counts, track the movement of the bears and determine the location of geographic pockets where the species might be able to survive the current period of climate change. -more- POLAR BEAR ALLIANCE/2-2-2 Together, the Zoo and PBI will continue conservation projects researching poorly-understood aspects of polar bear reproduction, sensory ecology, mother-cub behavior and cub development as well as how these systems are impacted by humans and a changing environment. The alliance will provide worldwide leadership in polar bear husbandry areas such as behavior, nutrition and veterinary care. Education will also be a key component of Arctic Ambassadors. Not only will this program generate scientific information to support conservation, it will become a vanguard messenger for the polar bear conservation crisis and the threats facing the arctic and the globe due to climate change. During the 2008 Year of the Polar Bear, Arctic Ambassadors will include Polar Bears International's Leadership Camp in Churchill, arctic distant learning initiatives, a world lecture series, interactive education, a National Teen Contest, a teaching curriculum, polar bear tours with scientists, an online game, an interpretive center and a Web-based education center. The 100-acre San Diego Zoo is operated by the not-for-profit Zoological Society of San Diego. The Zoological Society, dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats, engages in conservation and research work around the globe and is responsible for maintaining accredited horticultural, animal, library, and photo collections. The Zoological Society also manages the 1,800-acre San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park (more than half of which has been set aside as protected native species habitat) and the center for Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES). The important conservation and science work of these entities is supported in part by the Foundation for the Zoological Society of San Diego. Polar Bears International is a non-profit organization devoted to worldwide conservation through education. World headquarters are in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at 550-5 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L-2T4, Canada. U.S. headquarters are in Sebastopol, California. Membership begins with a donation of $25 and includes a quarterly newsletter. One hundred percent of donations go to support PBI initiatives. All administrative costs are covered by sales from its on-line gift shop. Board and advisory council members receive no compensation and are not reimbursed for expenses. Led Zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven" Backwards - leave a commen
Rock n' roll experts Paul Crouch, Jan Crouch, and Paul Crouch Jr. reveal the true meaning of "Stairway to Heaven": Robert Plant knows how to sing backwards, so that when he sings a line of a song, even though it's in English, he's really singing a different line backwards!!! OK OK, even though he IS extolling the virtues of Satan, you gotta be impressed by a bloke who can sing forwards and backwards at the same time!!! There's no escaping it...... The reason Jan Crouch looks so sexy and Paul Sr. seems so virile is that I taped this in 1982, back when they were in their sexual peaks. And that Paul Jr., boy he's a chip off the ol' block. I hear he's running a co-op/dispensary in West Hollywood these days. I accidentally erased the rest of the show where Paul Jr. also plays Black Oak Arkansas backwards (on a live version of the song "The Night Electricity Came to Arkansas") and apparently Ol' Pink Eyes himself, Jim Dandy, can sing backwards too. I always thought Dandy and Page would make a good team! Paul Jr. also revealed Satanic influences from the biggest 3 rock acts of all time: Beatles, Stones, and Alice Cooper. Curiously Paul Jr. has no problem with Iron Maiden. Probably because Iron Maiden isn't good enough to be mentioned in the same breath as major rock stars like The Beatles and Black Oak Arkansas. If you look closely at this classic performance, Paul Sr. and Jan bear an uncananny resemblance to Jim Dandy and his back-up vocalist (only the hairstyles (same hair color though!), the make-up, the wrinkles, and...oh yeah...the clothes, are different): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPsaGPzCHkQ I wonder if Paul & Jan actually used to be the 2 singers of BOA before they became televangelists and they never told Paul Jr. about their colorful past! He just outed the rock n' roll past of the leaders of TNN. I'll bet when Jan and Paul Sr. get intimate at night, she yells out "Go Jim Dandy, go Jim Dandy!" But if you play her love squeals backwards, she's really saying, "Paul is dead, Paul is dead", or maybe it's "Paul Jr. is dead". On the serious side, in the 26 years since I saw this, nobody has ever confirmed or denied that these masking effects are indeed part of the most famous classic rock song of all time. I wonder if Plant or Page has ever addressed this?
