![]() | Airbus A300-600ST "Beluga" (No #3) at Hawarden Airport, Broughton, North Wales The weird and wonderful Airbus A300-600ST "Beluga" is seen here at Hawarden near Broughton, North Wales. It has just collected a cargo of wings and is about to head to Finkenwerder in Hamburg, Germany for the Airbus A320 series assembley line. You can clearly see the wings for the Airbus A320 series aircraft lined up behind the plane. These would eventually be flown out on another flight as each Airbus Beluga can only carry 3 pairs of wings at any one time. This factory also manufactures the wings for the giant Airbus A380. A purpose built factory is located on the other side of the airfield for this important job. Because the Airbus A380 wings are so huge, they are not transported by the Airbus Beluga. Instead they are transported by barge down the River Dee which is located very close by and then transferred on to a Ro-Ro ship for their journey to France.
