2000 in
Oita,

Situated in an expansive campus (about 42 ha) in suburban
Beppu, Oita Prefecture, APU has an enrollment of 4,140 (
2004). Approximately half the students and faculty members come from outside of Japan: over 70 countries and regions.
An interesting feature of APU is its bilingual educational system in a multilingual learning environment; it offers dual language education in English and Japanese.
In 2003, 2004 and 2005 APU was selected as a "Good Practice" university by the Japanese
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
