'ReelzChannel' is a digital cable television channel owned by Hubbard Broadcasting Corporation that airs programming about movies. It features news and information on all films currently in theatres as well as information on films released on DVD and airing on cable television each week. In addition, VOD and Pay-TV highlights are featured in a segment that airs twice an hour called ''What to Watch''. It is tailored to each specific provider based on what channels are in their lineup.
Among the original programs that air on ReelzChannel are 'Dailies'- a daily news program about movies, similar to ESPN's ''SportsCenter'', 'The Directors'- a program featuring profiles of filmmakers and 'Obsession'- a trivia show. Also in development are a weekly debate program about movies and a biography series.
ReelzChannel launched on September 27, 2006 and is independently owned and operated. It is initially available via DirecTV (Ch. 238) & Dish Network (Ch. 299) but has also signed carriage deals with various cable companies including Time Warner Cable and Comcast. The network first became available on cable in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota area on November 30, 2006 via Comcast (Ch. 265 in Minneapolis, Ch. 260 in Saint Paul).
