QUISPAMSIS, NEW BRUNSWICK

(Redirected from Quispamsis)

'Quispamsis' (2001 pop.: 13,757) is a Canadian town located in Kings County, New Brunswick.
The population of Quispamsis qualifies for "city" status under the Municipalities Act of the Province of New Brunswick, however the town has made no move to change its municipal status.
Quispamsis is located 20 kilometres northeast of Saint John, in the lower Kennebecasis River valley.
Quispamsis amalgamated in 1998 with the nearby communities of Gondola Point and Wells to form the present community, covering an area of 60 km² and bordering the town of Rothesay to the southwest with the Hammond River along its northeastern boundary. Outdoor recreational opportunities are available at the Hammond River Nature Park, Ritchie Lake, and Meenan's Cove.
The Gondola Point neighbourhood is home to the Gondola Point Ferry crossing the Kennebecasis River, linking the Kingston Peninsula. This cable ferry was originally installed by William Pitt and is reportedly the first underwater cable ferry in the world.
Quispamsis, is the hometown of singer/songwriter, and canadian idol 4, 8th place finisher Brandon Jones
