QUAY


A 'quay', pronounced 'kay', 'key' or 'kway', is a wharf or bank where ships and other vessels are loaded. A quay is constructed parallel to the bank of a waterway. The word is commonly used in United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and Australia. Its French language counterpart ''Quai'' is common in francophone countries, but it is rather rare in everyday usage elsewhere.
