PROVINCE OF REGGIO EMILIA


The 'Province of Reggio Emilia' (Italian: ''Provincia di Reggio Emilia'') is one of the eight provinces of the Italian Region of Emilia-Romagna. The capital is the city Reggio Emilia.
It has an area of 2,293 km², and a total population of 487,003 (2005). There are 45 ''comuni'' (singular: ''comune'') in the province[1], see Comuni of the Province of Reggio Emilia.
Other towns are Scandiano, Guastalla, Correggio, Novellara, Castelnovo Monti, Canossa.
In the latter ''comune'' is located the historical castle of Canossa, property of the countess Matilda, where took place the famous Walk to Canossa of Henry IV
