The second set of tubes had germinated and dried peas again but we did not put potassium hydroxide into them. After some waiting we came up with some convincing results. The test tubes that had potassium hydroxide in them consumed the oxygen in the test tubes and pulled the indicator fluid into the test tubes. This exact opposite was experienced in the tubes without KOH. Instead carbon dioxide was produced which pushed the indicator fluid away. |
