Hallucinogen - LSD (Oliver Lieb Remix) Simon Posford
Hallucinogen is the stage name of Simon Posford (born 1971), an electronic musician specializing in Goa trance music from England. His early work is as an engineer on the T.I.P. (Raja Ram) and Dragonfly (Youth) labels. His first album, Twisted, was one of the most widely influential electronic music recordings of its time and helped to define the psychedelic trance genre. The follow-up album, The Lone Deranger, only cemented his influence. From then on, Posford ventured into numerous collaborations with other artists. His most notable projects involve artists such as Raja Ram (Shpongle), Martin Glover (Celtic Cross), Marc Brownstein from The Disco Biscuits (Younger Brother), and Prometheus a.k.a. He is renowned for his meticulous production skills and the multilayered depth his music has. These skills have led to recent production work outside the genre of Psytrance on the album "Valid Path" by Alan Parsons. Simon grew up in the village of Chobham, Surrey. While attending the nearby Woodcote school he played keyboards in his first band, "the Electric Light Failure". Later as a teenager he experimented extensively with home recording, first on a 4 track portastudio and later with a Tascam MSR-16 16 track recorder. He is also the co-founder of Twisted Records with Simon Holtom (previously manager of Youth's Dragonfly label), which is one of the most influential psychedelic trance record labels. A track by Hallucinogen, called "Bubble n' Tweak", is featured in the Gran Turismo 4 video game. In 2002, In Dub was released, a collection of Ott dub remixes of Hallucinogen tracks. In recent years, Posford has fostered a close relationship with jamtronica band, The Disco Biscuits, making appearances at Camp Biscos 5, 6 and 7 as well as producing tracks on The Biscuits' forthcoming album due out in 2008. Associated acts T.I.P., Dragonfly, Anubis, Audio Chemistry, Axis Mundi, Baba G, Beast, Binah, Celtic Cross, DSP, Dub Trees, Flight, Fly Agaric, Gargoyles, Growlmonizer, Industrial Suicide Tribe, Infernal Machine, Mandala, Metal Sharon, MP3, Mystery Of The Yeti, Nomads Of Dub, North Central Positronics, Psykov, Purple Om, Shpongle, Subkha, Twisted Allstars, Younger Brother. ------------------------------------- Oliver Lieb (born 1969) is a prolific electronic music producer based in Frankfurt, Germany (primarily techno and trance). He has produced hundreds of tracks on over 100 records and has remixed tracks for the likes of Sven Väth, Yello, Sparks, Human League, Marc Oh, Mory Kante. He also frequently performs as a DJ. Oliver began his musical career as a bass player with great ambitions, playing in funk and soul bands. However, he often left the bands he played in before they found any real success. Eventually he started exploring electronic music. His first own records, under the alias "Force Legato", were released by ZYX Music. In 1992, Oliver Lieb met Matthias Schindehutte, A&R man for the newly formed Harthouse label, who contracted him for the Spicelab project. Spicelab went on to become one of the most important Harthouse projects and the figurehead of the Frankfurt techno scene. At the same time, Oliver started work on harder tracks, released using the alias Psilocybin. 1993 saw his first releases under the alias L.S.G., which he continues to use today. In 1994, he first cooperated with Harald Großkopf (whom he later also performed with live), releasing tracks using the alias The Ambush. Superstition Records have described Oliver Lieb's studio as one of the most exciting equipment collections of the entire techno scene. It contains dozens of synthesisers, many of them rare or unusual. He prefers analogue equipment, valuing especially oscillators capable of producing extraordinarily deep bass frequencies. His music typically consists of atypical sound tapestries and melodies intervowen with very straight, familiar techno rhythms.
