![]() | Why No Asians in Professional Sports? DAMN.. nobody ever reads descriptions.... There is only a handful of Asians in professional sports today. By professional sports, I mean NHL, NBA, NFL, MLS, World Soccer, Olympic Basketall..... I am thinking more traditional professional sports you see in America. Yes I know Johjima, Okajima, Iwamura, Matsui, Matsuzaka, Tomko..... etc. I am a huge MLB fan. I think there should be even more. We are grabbing the best of the best in Japan and high market teams like Boston and New York are the ONLY ONES able to pay for them. We should be able to pluck Asian talent from Asia like we do from the Dominican Republic. Asia has a crap load of baseball players who CAN play in the MLB today. I will explain why there should be more Asians in elite sports leagues. |

Multimillion dollar playing contracts are paid to sportsmen, and millions more earned through franchise profit. People are conditioned to care about their favorite teams and sportsmen by deceptive advertising. But does it matter who wins a sports game? All the effort wasted on professional sports can be channelled towards beneficial activities to carry out the role of Allah's Khalifah on earth. http://caliph.wordpress.com http://www.islamic-world.net/videos |
![]() | Massage Sports Post-Event http://medicalmassage-edu.com Post-Event Sports Rehabilitative Full-Body Massage. For some reason, massage therapists that specialize in treatments of sport related injuries are calling this method ?sport massage. In my opinion, if someone sprains/strains the lower back, upper back, shoulder, knee, etc., by playing sport or working at home, or at the workplace, the pathology that will be developed due to kind of injury disturbing orthopedic status. Utilization of massage in cases of back and limb disorders we call orthopedic massage. There is no doubt that there is huge room for orthopedic massage available in sport rehabilitative medicine. It is proven that orthopedic massage therapy is a very effective tool in treating sport-related, industrial injuries, as well as helping people experience less pain in cases of degenerative diseases of the support and movement systems such as osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and other types of spondylosis. Really sport massage that is utilized only in industry of sport is a pre-event sport massage and post-event rehabilitative sport massage. These two types of massage therapy are very important efforts in order to improve the athletes performances, to prevent to a maximum extent, sport related injuries, as well as to eliminate side effects of exercise stress/overtraining. 20 years ago, training in sport massage was limited to massage therapists who worked with professional teams, Olympian teams, etc. Nowadays, sport massage has value not only for professional athletes, but also for the modern fitness enthusiast. If you will pay attention to the behavior of today's gym members, you will see people who are working out as if they are preparing themselves for competition. It is obvious that most of them are pushing themselves to the limit. In most cases, people don't or forget to ask themselves, ?Why am I in the gym? If you will ask them this question, no doubt their answer will be ?to keep (themselves) in shape and to contribute to (their) health. But the manner of working out like a professional athlete in the long run causes more harm than good. What a lot of people do not realize is that professional sport-like training is not contributing to health. Professional sports actually is a tough rough show business and nothing else. I personally don't believe that we are capable of changing the minds of gym enthusiasts that vigorous exercise (which most gym enthusiasts are engaging in) is not a good idea. But there is no doubt that post-event rehabilitative sport massage can be of tremendous help to the health of these gym enthusiasts. The post-event rehabilitative sport massage that I offering to you today was initially developed and proposed by professor Alexander Dembo, MD, PhD, former Leningrad, now Peterburg School of Medicine in 1964. 48 hours after exercise N/A Rodenberg, et al., 1994 15 minutes after exercise 15 min Tiidus, 1995 48 hours after exercise 10 min Gupta, 1996 48 hours after exercise 10 min |
![]() | Lance Armstrong - How Can We Prevent Doping In Pro Sports? Complete video at: fora.tv/2007/07/04/A_Conversation_with_Lance_Armstrong Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong discusses issues surrounding the use of performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports. ----- Bob Schieffer interviews Lance Armstrong at the 2007 Aspen Ideas Festival. Some of the most inspired and provocative thinkers, writers, artists, business people, teachers and other leaders drawn from myriad fields and from across the country and around the world all gathered in a single place - to teach, speak, lead, question, and answer at the 2007 Aspen Ideas Festival. Throughout the week, they all interacted with an audience of thoughtful people who stepped back from their day-to-day routines to delve deeply into a world of ideas, thought, and discussion. Lance Armstrong is a retired American professional road racing cyclist. He won the Tour de France - cycling's most prestigious race - seven consecutive times, from 1999 to 2005. In doing so, he beat the previous records of five wins by Miguel Indurain (consecutive) and Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx and Jacques Anquetil. Previous to this achievement he also survived testicular cancer, a germ cell tumor that metastasized to his brain and lungs in 1996. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery, and extensive chemotherapy. Armstrong's athletic success and dramatic recovery from cancer inspired him to commemorate his accomplishments, with Nike, through the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a charity founded in 1997. The foundation's yellow rubber "Livestrong" wristbands, first launched in 2004, have been a major success, netting the foundation more than $60 million dollars in the fight against cancer, while helping Armstrong become a major player in the nonprofit sector. These achievements have at times been clouded by allegations that Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs to achieve some of his wins. However, no conclusive evidence has been presented to verify these allegations, which he vigorously denies, and Armstrong has never failed a doping test. Bob Lloyd Schieffer is an American journalist who has been with CBS News since 1969, serving 23 years as anchor on the Saturday edition of CBS Evening News from 1973-1996; chief Washington correspondent since 1982, moderator of the Sunday public affairs show Face the Nation since 1991, and, between March of 2005 and August 31, 2006, interim weekday anchor of the CBS Evening News. Katie Couric, formerly of NBC's The Today Show, succeeded Schieffer as anchor on September 5, 2006. |
