PRO-ADMINISTRATION PARTY (UNITED STATES)

'Pro-Administration "Party"' is a term used by historians to describe the supporters of the policies of George Washington's administration — especially Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton's financial policies — prior to the formation of the Federalist and Democratic-Republican Parties.
Almost the entire membership of the Pro-Administration "Party" was composed of future Federalists; the term ''Pro-Administration Party'' is also sometimes used to describe the supporters of the administration who didn't join the Federalist Party after its formation. This was not an actual political party; rather, this is used as a catch-all for a variety of diverse political factions.
