'Pont-Audemer' is a
commune and the chief town of a
canton of the ''
département'' of
Eure, in the
Haute-Normandie ''
région'' of
Normandy, in
France.
Geography
The commune is situated on the
Risle between the
Roumois and the
Lieuvin.
Sights
The commune was spared substantial damage to its historic buildings during the
Battle of Normandy. Nowadays the
half-timbered buildings and the canals running between them are a tourist attraction. The church of Saint-Ouen is noted for its Renaissaince stained glass.

Transport
Pont-Audemer has no rail services but the station building remains open and sells rail tickets.
PontAuRail, a preserved railway, runs two
Diesel multiple units (a

X2400) from Pont-Audemer to
Honfleur.

Until
1926, Pont-Audemer was the seat of a ''
sous-préfecture'' of the Eure ''département''.
Its
coat of arms is a four arch bridge over a river argent in chief azure three
fleur-de-lis or.
The city is evoked in a poem of
Paul Verlaine called ''The Apollo of Pont-Audemer''.
