![]() | evolution IS testable, regardless of what a01011399 thinks I explain (or at least try to) using cladograms why feathered dinosaurs are not problems for evolution, but feathered dogs are problems. basically, a cladogram depicts the evolutionary relationships among different life forms and uses them to classify living things. Thanks to washington, loudmouth, and naraoia for giving me the info on cladistics/taxonomy you can find them on christianforums.com |
![]() | Species was originally a creationist idea. John Ray coined the term "species." He was a creationist. Linneaus used "species" as the base level of his taxonomy. He too was a creaionist. A taxonomy is a way of organizing data. Applying the continuum of evolution to the discrete categories of linnaean taxonomy produces an effect akin to "quantization error" in mathematics. Darwin talked about the problems with the species concept in Origin of Species - in the first chapter and several other times throughout the book. Also, lots of words in math and science have multiple definitions: randomness, complexity, information, entropy, to name a few off the top of my head. (No surprise that creationists - not you, perhaps, but other creationists - use these terms in some of their failed attempts to disprove evolution.) joness105639's original video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8BmzlnMui9M GeneticistAtheist's reponse: http://youtube.com/watch?v=svi65LlrkEY Important note: Forgot to correct something in my text comment on jones' video. I haven't read anything in detail about cladistics. I wrote that it doesn't use the 'species concept.' It's more correct for me to say that "I doubt it uses the creationist concept of species." |
