PETER CLAGHORN

'"Peter W(hitney) Claghorn"' is the founder, president, and CEO of Organizations by Design, an international management consulting firm located in Calgary, Alberta. He was born in 1947 in Princeton, Massachusetts.
Claghorn attended The Holderness School and various colleges before beginning a career of outdoor adventure and education. He has solo kayaked the Inside Passage along the coast of British Columbia and the Alaska Panhandle, kayaked the Fjords and Pacific Coast of Chile, and canoed the South Nahanni River in the Nahanni National Park Reserve of the Northwest Territories of Canada. He has rock climbed extensively in New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Yosemite, California. Claghorn Bluffs in the region of Thunder Bay (Ontario) are named after him. His most notable first ascents, B Flat Minor and Minor Dilemmas, were done seconding for his ex climbing partner, Ken Ryan.
Claghorn was a student at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, and has been an instructor at the Minnesota Outward Bound School and the Canadian Outward Bound Wilderness School. Most notably, he was the longtime director of the Enviros Wilderness School for delinquent and emotionally disturbed teens in Calgary, Alberta.
After retiring from Enviros, Claghorn earned a Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) degree from Pepperdine University and worked internationally with the UMS group as a consultant – primarily in the oil and natural gas field. In 2005 he founded his own consulting firm, Organizations by Design.
