PEPE THE KING PRAWN

'Pepe the Prawn' is one of the Muppets, performed by Bill Barretta. He was first introduced in the 1996 TV show ''Muppets Tonight''. At the time, he would sing along with his partner, Seymour the Elephant, although neither of the two had any real musical talent.
Pepe ditched his partner (Seymour has not been seen since ''Muppets Tonight'' went off the air) and began a "solo act" starting in the movie ''Muppets from Space'', and continuing today. He is often used in Rizzo the Rat's old position of light comedic relief and the butt of jokes or victim of accidents.
Pepe is very proud of being a ''king'' prawn, and takes great offense if anyone refers to him as "shrimp."
He speaks with a heavy Spanish accent, often punctuating his sentences with "Okay?" He is also something of a humorous lothario, and frequently spews sexual innuendo. He is also known to turn situations to his benefit, such as when he allied with Ms. Bitterman in ''It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie'', although his conscience usually wins out and makes him do what's right in the end.
He is an occasional correspondent on movies.go.com's ''Statler & Waldorf From the Balcony'', interviewing actors on the red carpet of ''Flightplan''. Pepe also hosts documentary-styled featurettes (titled ''Pepe's Profiles'') on the recent DVDs of the movies (put out by The Walt Disney Company), despite the fact that he isn't in any of the films featured on the DVDs.
He was also a former "spokesprawn" for Long John Silver's in 2002.
He stars as Toto in ''The Muppets' Wizard of Oz''.
