The Pacific-Antarctic Ridge is the southern extension of the East Pacific Rise

The 'Pacific-Antarctic Ridge' is an oceanic ridge at the boundary between the Pacific and Antarctic Plates. Convection currents in the Earth's mantle are causing the plates to separate, creating new oceanic crust at a rate of approximately 2.9 cm each year.
