 | Video Warrior In his large-format thinking L.C. von Sukmeister never distinguished between the big and small things in life, almost just like a Terracotta Warrior (2006). With a powerful gesture, he threw most often banal objects (such as museum visitor stickers) onto the screen in, sometimes but not this time, oversized exposure and gave them an importance that previously was seen as inappropriate in "high" art. Since the 21st Century, L.C., a former Radboud University Nijmegen art history student, is one of the most prominent representatives of the so-called New Art Video Appropriation Movement (NAVA). In 2007 he exhibited on the internet. The almost crappy works that he created for this "worldwide art show" open the current special exhibition on the U tube. Even so, it does not proceed fairly, but, with over 20 videos, the show makes L.C.'s diverse as well multilayered oeuvre visible through thematic and in part surprising juxtapositions of different groups of appropriation.  | Berlin Titquest VI Free Balconies. Free Birds in the Cage. Copy Paste: For serie -The Berlin Titquest- L.C. von Sukmeister gathers an idiosyncratic mix of six breast-focused images, juxtaposing their spatio-temporal context in complementary to antagonistic relationships. His choices, arranged around selections of different breasts images taken from several different locations, such as the streets, the museum spaces and the hotel room, reveal his probing interest in slippages of identity and identification, cultural memory and forgetting, and the ways in which artistic conceptualism engages these issues. The quest shuttles between the popular street advertising commercial media and the alternative. In a far more complacent present, when irony has replaced sexual desire, Von Sukmeister searches for todays (endangered) manifestations of the breast often coyly disguised. The serie considers how image identities are constructed rather than given, shaped as much by external information from the streets and influences from sheltered spaces as emanating from within images as conditions of multivalence rather than equivalence, awash in cultural ether.  | Minimal Reality III Minimal Reality III, a Slight Digital Portrait of an Artistic Conceptualist II no plot, no, actors, no music, minimal sound, minimal vision, minimal reality III. The work summarised under the German word -Muβgang- shows one short film spliced in a multilayered image. The resultant shift of impressions from absolute hectic to a moment of an idle free time pose resembles the stream of consciousness or the fluctuations of memory.
