ORARA RIVER
The 'Orara River' is a significant tributary of the Clarence River, located in northern New South Wales, Australia.
The river begins in the hills behind the city of Coffs Harbour and runs in a general north-westerly direction for approximately 100 kilometres to the Clarence River at Eatonsville, located 20 kilometres north-west of Grafton. Major communities along the river include Coramba, Nana Glen, Glenreagh, Coutts Crossing, Ramornie and Eatonsville.
In recent years, the river has suffered from overuse, particularly due to irrigation projects and the river's use as the major source of water for the city of Coffs Harbour. This has led to siltation in the river, and the virtual decimation of the river's freshwater fish stocks.
