Odakyū 3000 series trainset

The is the Odakyū Electric Railway's
main section of railway line in Japan. It stretches 82.5 km from Shinjuku
in central Tokyo, through Tokyo's southwestern suburbs to the city of Odawara in Kanagawa Prefecture. It is a major
commuter line and is also known for its
Romance Car "limited express" train to popular resorts such as Hakone. From Yoyogi-Uehara some trains continue onto the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and onto the JR-East Jōban Line.
Odakyū services from Shinjuku heading towards Tama area or Enoshima use a section of the line before branching off onto their respective lines.

History

The first part of the line was opened on April 1, 1927.
Currently the section of line between Yoyogi-Uehara and Setagaya-Daita is being upgraded from 2 to 4 tracks as part of an ongoing project to reduce congestion on the line. Originally planned as a viaduct, the plan was changed to a tunnel, and work on the tunnel between Setagaya-Daita and Higashi-Kitazawa is now ongoing.
The Shinjuku - Hakone route is included in Microsoft Train Simulator.
