OBERTAUERN
'Obertauern' is a medium-sized ski resort in the Austrian state of Salzburg.
It is considered to offer one of the best skiing opportunities in the Eastern Alps and is famed for its typically Austrian Après-Ski.
It is very popular with German tourists and also gets more and more known in other countries like Great Britain and Eastern European states. It is famous for its mogul and powder snow pistes and its high proportion of advanced-level slopes, however, there are also very good skiing conditions for beginners. Moreover, Obertauern has unusually high snowfall rates, which is due to its geographic location, allowing snow coming both from the northern and the southern side of the Alps.
Obertauen is a base for the Austrian World Cup and Olympic ski team.
