NUMERATOR

A 'numerator' is a person who counts, also called a tabulator, or a numeral used to indicate a count. The most common use of the word today is to name the part of a fraction that tells the number or count of equal parts. In the fraction 3/4,, 3 is the 'numerator', and the fraction represents three equal parts of a whole, each part being one fourth of the whole. (Note that 4 is the denominator in this example.)
