NEW YORK SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO CHILDREN

The 'New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children' was founded in 1875 by Elbridge Thomas Gerry and Henry Bergh as the world's first child protective agency. It is sometimes called the Gerry Society after its co-founder.
