![]() | Westerners Are "Enjoying" Africa西方人在非洲的享乐之旅 Neocolonialism?Who have been Neo-colonizing in Africa?China?Or western countries?Definitely,African people in Africa know everything, but they can barely give out their own voices. So,let a westerner-made documentary of tourism say something about it. As the narrator of this documentary says,"the people here are all kind and simple...we can experience it,like back into the PAST,join us!" The most expensive and luxurious train in the world, spacious Victorian-styled compartment rooms, pretty and amiable stewardesses, aperitif and hors d'oeuvre, fancy beverage and wine,1920s' five-starred dinner, coiffeur professinale, and so on and on. The journey of dream in this train begins with Dar res Salaam,Tanzania, ends in Cape Town,South Africa, crossing several countries(including Zambia).Sightseeing several countries' natural wildernesses through railway in luxe train cabins, safari in national parks delivered by private planes, and meanwhile, the local people over there are sufferring from drought and the lack of water on everyday life basis. One more thing, this documentary was made by westerners, and translated into Chinese narration by some TV system in Taiwan. If you're familiar with Chinese language, you would notice that there's a bit, though rather obvious,Taiwan accent in the Mandarin narration in this documentary. |
![]() | Michael Bucher sings his song; Don't Forget About Me Michael Bucher's song is calling us to remember that part of history that was so destructive to Native Americans. It is a prophetic warning that if we don't remember and understand history, the same thing will happen again. And this time it won't be just Native Americans targeted. There are those who say this is already happening. I call it neocolonialism. It finds its way into our politics through the dismantling of our civil rights. Global marauding i.e. Iraq. The dumbing down of our culture through drugs, alcohol, violence and the relentless destruction of our earth. Don't Forget About Me can be found on Michael's CD, "Seven" and the Klayjar compilation CD, "Sacred Sites Songs". |
