NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AMAZONIAN RESEARCH

The 'National Institute of Amazonian Research' (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia or 'INPA') is a public educational and research Institution in Manaus, Brazil. It was founded in 1952, with the purpose of providing a further knowledge about the Brazilian Amazon Region. Most part of the research focus on the main topics of ecology, zoology and botany. A small collection of the major taxa of animals and vascular plants are also found in the institute.
It also publishes a scientific journal, named Acta Amazônica.
