The 'Museum of the Shenandoah Valley', also known as the 'Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens' is a non-profit museum with historic house and gardens, located at 901 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia. The house and gardens are open March through November; the museum building is open year-round. All are open daily except Mondays and holidays; an admission fee is charged.
The museum is dedicated to the art, history, and culture of the Shenandoah Valley. It includes three components:

★ Glen Burnie Historic House - central portion probably built by Robert Wood in the 1790s; it remained in the Wood and Glass families until 1997 when it opened as a museum.

★ Gardens (6 acres) - created from 1956 onward. They include two crabapple allées, a grand allée, and a pleached allée; boxwood parterre and knot garden; Chinese garden; rose gardens with nearly 450 bushes; perennial garden; vegetable garden; and water garden.

★ Museum of the Shenandoah Valley building (2005) - designed by architect Michael Graves. It includes works by more than 50 painters, including William Merritt Chase, John Constable, Jasper Francis Cropsey, Thomas Gainsborough, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Gilbert Stuart, and James Whistler. It also features an excellent collection of furnished miniature houses and rooms; on display are five houses and four rooms, containing the work of more than seventy-five miniatures artisans.
