The upper portions of Route 4 approach the top of Mount Akagi and are featured in numerous Initial D episodes. It is the home course of the Akagi Red Suns, a street racing team. It is also featured in the Playstation 2 game Auto Modellista.
Mount Akagi is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan.
