Online Discussion Group
'Montrain' is the name of an online public transit discussion group based in the suburbs of
Montreal,
Quebec,
Canada. The primary focus of the group's discussions is
public transit in the metropolitan Montreal area. Topics include current and historic transit services, e.g., bus, metro (subway), commuter trains. Occasionally, the group discusses transit-related issues such as labour relations, urban planning, and railfanning.
Montrain began in the mid-1990s as a forum to discuss the modernization of the Montreal-Deux Montagnes commuter train line. Over time, the scope of the group expanded to include any issue related to transit in Montreal.
Montrain has about 7 to 10 persons who contribute regularly to the online discussions. Another 30 persons are on the mailing list, but do not contribute regularly to the group. Most members reside in the metropolitan Montreal area; some regular contributors reside in Ontario or Illinois.
