![]() | Todd's Midnight Molar Removal Todd makes an after hours visit to Brian's Dentistry Service to have a cavity stricken molar removed. The first few attempts using dental floss look painful enough as they fail. But the final attempt using much thicker string and brute force does the job. Do you think he looks ready? Keep in mind this tooth, although he considered it loose, didn't appear very loose to Brian and myself. |
![]() | Post Wisdom Teeth/Molar Removal Interveiw With Guest Caller This is a couple hours after I had my wisdom teeth and two molars removed. It documents how I act while recouping from the anesthesia and talk with a totally numbed out tongue and lower jaw. Earlier, at the dentist office in the recovery room, I related to my Chris, who made this video, that there were purple dogs running around under my tongue while I stroked the nurse's hand lovingly. Yes, what a shame we didn't think to take the camera there. I also became very upset when I found out about them throwing my teeth away. I'm sure we had a great conversation that I can't remember because I now have them in my possession, fresh from the dentist office trash. Enjoy! |
![]() | Einstein the Wonder Pig's teeth A video of the inside of Einstein the guinea pig's mouth. Einstein was a lethal white without any front teeth. He had deformed molars, which needed trimming every month. In the video, you can see that his right front premolars (left on the screen) were very long and odd-shaped. You can also see that he had a nasty ulcer on the inside of his cheek. All the fibrous stuff is food--with his deformed teeth, he couldn't chew it up very well, and with his molars trapping his tongue in place, he couldn't move it out of the corner of his cheek. Isn't it cool that guinea pig tongues are hairy? |

![]() | Tooth Pullage I got my tooth pulled today. It had actually been a problem tooth for--I kid you not--7 years before it finally flared up on me this weekend. I got my face numbed and they yanked that sucker out. Needless to say, I was crying for hours with a horrendous headache. Music: "Baby Love Child" by the Pizzicato 5 |

![]() | Amboró Nat. Park, Bolivia. Hiking up the Devil's Molar. Sout www.discoveringbolivia.com 1 Day Trekking with Michael Blendinger Nature Tours through the Yungas of Park Amboró towards the archaeological Site the Devil's Tooth. For those who love trekking, the 7-hour demanding hike through the cloud forest (las Yungas) is an exercise rich in landscapes and encounters with the flora and fauna of this ecosystem. The trail lies at 1500 to 2200 meters above sea level, offering a great opportunity to train for altiplano trekks. We begin our day with an hour long hike up the hillside of Las Lauras, identifying along the way the names of Plush-crested Jays and parakeets hidden amongst the thicket, as well as erythrinas and lapacho trees. We continue until we reach La Mina Pass where a tree fern forest nourishes itself with the humidity of clouds that habitually wind their way through the canopy of weinmannias, bolivian pines, bolivian cedars, and myrtaceaes. With a little luck we will cross paths with the Capuchin Monkeys´ aerial route or hear the song of quetzals, trogons, tinamous, guans, thrushes, and antpittas. Once on the other side we will head down for two hours to reach the forest of laurels and bolivian walnut trees. After lunch we will hike for an hour between the wind-twisted trees along the ridge which divides the watersheds of the Piray and Yapacaní rivers. We then reach the parrots´ cliff on the Devil's Tooth. From a lookout, well inside the park's borders, the spectacular view of the Devil's Tooth and the sight of both valleys enshrouded by mist make the trip very worthwhile. Those with strong hearts and ankles can climb up for one hour to the top of the Tooth if they are not daunted by heights. From the lookout we head down for 2 hours towards Piedras Blancas through steep bamboo undergrowth beneath a forest of bolivian walnut trees and laurels. There are many photo opportunities (200 to 400 ISO). From the Inter-Andean valleys, it takes an hour by 4x4 jeep on a dirt road to reach the trail, and another hour coming back down. Bring raincoat and insect repellent. |
