As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 12,770 and a density of 239.9 persons per km². The total area is 53.24 km².
On March 20, 2006 the old town of Manno (満濃町) merged with the towns of Kotonami and Chunan to create the new town of Manno (まんのう町).
