![]() | USA PREPARES TO ATTACK IRAN due to IRAN-PAK-INDIA GAS LINE! NEW RHETORIC from CBS telling and blinding the SHEEPLE for the reason why the USA is planning an EMINENT ATTACK ON IRAN why?? You didn't hear this story.. IRAN-PAKISTAN-INDA GAS PIPELINE IS ON as ASIAN Countries create interdependent energy economy with IRAN, DESPITE USA OPPOSITION The US military is drawing up plans for a "surgical strike" against an insurgent training camp inside Iran if Republican Guards continue with attempts to destabilise Iraq, western intelligence sources said last week. One source said the Americans were growing increasingly angry at the involvement of the Guards' special-operations Quds force inside Iraq, training Shi'ite militias and smuggling weapons into the country. Despite a belligerent stance by Vice-President Dick Cheney, the administration has put plans for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on the back burner since Robert Gates replaced Donald Rumsfeld as defence secretary in 2006, the sources said. However, US commanders are increasingly concerned by Iranian interference in Iraq and are determined that recent successes by joint Iraqi and US forces in the southern port city of Basra should not be reversed by the Quds Force. "If the situation in Basra goes back to what it was like before, America is likely to blame Iran and carry out a surgical strike on a militant training camp across the border in Khuzestan," said one source, referring to a frontier province. They acknowledged Iran was unlikely to cease involvement in Iraq and that, however limited a US attack might be, the fighting could escalate. Although American defence chiefs are firmly opposed to any attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, they believe a raid on one of the camps training Shi'ite militiamen would deliver a powerful message to Tehran. British officials believe the US military tends to overestimate the effect of the Iranian involvement in Iraq. But they say there is little doubt that the Revolutionary Guard exercises significant influence over splinter groups of the radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army, who were the main targets of recent operations in Basra. The CBS television network reported last week that plans were being drawn up for an attack on Iran, citing an officer who blamed the "increasingly hostile role" Iran was playing in Iraq. The American news reports were unclear about the precise target of such an action and referred to Iran's nuclear facilities as the likely objective. According to the intelligence sources there will not be an attack on Iran's nuclear capacity. "The Pentagon is not keen on that at all. If an attack happens it will be on a training camp to send a clear message to Iran not to interfere." President George W Bush is known to be determined that he should not hand over what he sees as "the Iran problem" to his successor. A limited attack on a training camp may give an impression of tough action, while at the same time being something that both Gates and the US commander in Iraq, General David Petraeus, could accept. |

Editado por -Edited by:Sergio Larranaga. The Land Rover Defender is a British four wheel drive Off-road utility vehicle. It is the product of continued development of the original utility Land Rover Series I launched in 1948. Using the basic yet robust underpinnings of a ladder frame chassis and aluminium body, the Defender is available in a huge variety of body types (as of 2007, 10 major body types are available from the factory, plus many more specialist versions such as fire engines, hydraulic platforms and military versions). Defenders are used for a very wide variety of purposes- from agricultural and industrial users to a large number of military customers. Defenders are also a common choice for use on expeditions and surveys throughout the world. As well as these more traditional roles, in recent years the Defender has been increasingly used by families and individuals as a private car. The Defender was not an entirely new model at launch. It used engines and body panels carried over from the Series III Land Rover; gearbox, axles and suspension from the Range Rover. The biggest change to the Land Rover came in late 1990, when it became the Land Rover Defender, instead of the Land Rover Ninety or One Ten. This was because in 1989 the company had introduced the Discovery model, requiring the original Land Rover to acquire a name. The Discovery also had a new turbodiesel engine. This was also loosely based on the existing 2.5-litre turbo unit, and was built on the same production line, but had a modern alloy cylinder head, improved turbocharging, intercooling and direct injection. It retained the block, crankshaft, main bearings, cambelt system and other ancillaries as the Diesel Turbo. The breather system included an oil separator filter to remove oil from the air in the system, thus finally solving the Diesel Turbo's main weakness of re-breathing its own sump oil. The 200Tdi as the new engine was called produced 107 hp (80 kW) and 188 lb·ft (255 N·m) of torque, which was nearly a 25% improvement on the engine it replaced (although as installed in the Defender the engine was de-tuned slightly from its original Discovery specification (111 horsepower) to suit the prolonged periods of low speed, high revving operation that Land Rovers experienced in commercial use, such as when towing heavy loads). This engine finally allowed the Defender to cruise comfortably at high speeds, as well as tow heavy loads speedily on hills while still being economical. In theory it only replaced the older Diesel Turbo engine in the range, with the other 4-cylinder engines (and the V8 petrol engine) still being available. However, the Tdi's combination of performance and economy meant that it took the vast majority of sales. 1994 saw another development of the Tdi engine, the 300Tdi. This was the same capacity, and both the Defender and the Discovery had engines in the same state of tune (111 bhp, 195 ft·lbf), and had the same basic layout, but had over 200 changes to improve the refinement and on-road performance of the engine. However, in the process the economy of the engine was reduced slightly, as was the ability for it to be serviced by the owner. Throughout the 1990s the vehicle attempted to climb more and more upmarket, while remaining true to its working roots. If ordered without any optional extras, the Defender was a basic working tool. If the owner so wished, any number of options and accessories could transform it into a vehicle that was perfectly acceptable as an everyday method of transport, while still retaining excellent off-road abilities. This was epitomised by limited edition vehicles, such as the SV90 in 1992 with roll-over protection cage, alloy wheels and metallic paint and the 50th Anniversary 90 in 1998 equipped with automatic transmission, air conditioning and Range Rover 4.0-litre V8 engine. |
![]() | Mark Sheehan's Nitro Funny Car test day 23.12.2007 This is Mark Sheehan's Nitro Funny Car licensing debut taken on the 23rd December at the Perth Motorplex. On the car's first 60-foot shut-off launch, all went well with an impressive .94 short time on the sizzling hot 120-degree track. On the second launch for the day (which was meant to be a 330 foot shut-off) the head gaskets blew, and so the team packed up for the day. The car has a Victory chassis, and was originally built for John Force as a spare chassis for his team, but was never used. When the Sheehan team acquired this chassis, it was used and built as a small block Alcohol Altered, and ran as quick as 5.69 seconds on both sides of Australia. The Victory chassis was then reworked, and a great deal of effort was put into building the parts and components that were required to convert the car onto nitro, which was all done locally in Perth by the many people who helped bring the dream together to make it the reality which it is today. When the Sheehan team made the switch over onto nitromethane with the chassis, it was mated up with an ex John Force 2003 Castrol Syntec Mustang Funny Car body, which was used by Tony Pedregon to win the 2003 NHRA World Championship. The main engine components on the car were purchased from Bill Miller in America including engine blocks, cranks and manifolds, while the cylinder heads and the rest of the other parts came from the John Force Racing stables. The engine combination will produce between 7000 and 8000 horsepower once it is all sorted, and should be capable of propelling Sheehan to 4-second ET's at over 300 mph. Mark and Sharon would like to thank all of the people and sponsors who have been involved with helping the car to get in it's first laps including Red Line Oil, Dimoff Transmissions, Beau's Haulage, WA Racecar Fibreglass, Rory Taylor from Speed Torque, Ian Jenkins from JPP, Jay Upton, Bill Miller, the Perth Motorplex, and of course all of the happy crew. Future licensing procedures for the team are now planned for January 2008. |

![]() | Volcano Days- Antique Gas Engine Show An extinct community in Wood County, West Virginia, Volcano was an oil town, located in the third greatest oil field to be discovered in the United States. Two Irishmen whose names are lost to history brought in the first successful well there. At one time Volcano resembled a Klondike gold rush boom town with a population of eight or ten thousand people. At it's peak, the town consisted of several stores, hotels, saloons, an opera house, warehouse, homes, churches, two schools, a post office, and it's own newspaper, the Walking Beam. It's downfall began in 1879 when a fire broke out and burned almost every building in town. Some of the population stayed on to continue to pump oil from the rich field, but most left, to explore elsewhere in West Virginia or to join the exodus of prospectors to the newly discovered Oklahoma oil fields. Some oil is still pumped from the field at Volcano, although nothing like the quantity formerly brought to the surface by the old fashioned steam powered pumps. Volcano hardly exists as a town today, just a few isolated homes remain scattered over the hills. ************Early History*********** 1810- South of Volcano, oil was found in gravel beds of the Hughes River. 1836- Bushrod Creel sold 100 barrels of such oil as "bank oil" for medicinal purposes. 1850 thru 1860- Oil seepages were discovered in the Volcano area along Oil Spring Run between Volcano and the village of Petroleum. When seepages were first discovered, oil was collected by wringing out blankets which had been soaked in the oil puddles. The first successful oil well was drilled in this area by Messrs. Hazeltt and Co. of Wheeling, West Virginia in 1860. 1857- The North Western Railroad extended it's main line from Cumberland, Maryland to Parkersburg, West Virginia, coming within a few miles of the Volcano field. 1873- By this date the increasing demand for oil had brought about many new wells and employment of hundreds of workers. Volcano had become the center of oil production in West Virginia. The town had grown to a population of several thousand and included schools, churches, stores, restaurants, an opera house, a large hotel, a town hall, and two newspapers (The Walking Beam and The Lubricator). Also, there was a baseball team known as the "Greasy Nine" with a professional circus clown as a pitcher. 1874- W.C. Stiles, Jr. devised a method of connecting several wells by an endless cable and pumping them all from one central point. 1879- The first pipeline in West Virginia was completed. It ran fifteen miles from Volcano to Parkersburg. Prior to this time it cost 25 cents per barrel to ship the oil to Parkersburg, where it sold for $2.75 per barrel. On August 4th, at about 4 a.m., the town of Volcano was swept by fire. The many wooden structures burned like kindling, and the fire literally cleared both sides of the street. A few buildings were saved; the Silcott Hotel, the upper end of town, and a number of oil derricks on the hillside. The cause of the fire is still undetermined. |
